We are the American branch of the Anglican Communion, which is derived from the Church of England. The worldwide Anglican Communion has over 70 million members making us the third largest denomination in Christendom. We are a tolerant and diverse church which encompasses persons on all ends of the spectrum.

It's pretty simple—that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. These are core beliefs that we share in common with all Christians. However, we are not out to make "cookie cutter Christians." You will find great diversity in the Episcopal Church as to how we live out our core beliefs. An oft quoted statement about our church is that "you will not be asked to check your brain at the door."

Episcopal worship focuses on Prayers, Scripture, and Holy Communion or the Eucharist. Coming from Protestant and Roman Catholic backgrounds, and seeking commonality in worship, one can find a home in the Episcopal Church. All Episcopal churches use the Book of Common Prayer and it is in this form of worship that we find our unity. Worship at St. Philip's has a relaxed feel that brings together the best of our traditions and you are encouraged to "come as you are."
